Passing of a good friend

Postby Naughty Monkey » Sat Aug 29, 2015 3:31 pm

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of a good friend. At least she lived a full life and was loved and admired by all. She was always willing to live life to the fullest, living on the edge and always ready for more. Alas, like so many starlet's, her fire burned out in her prime as tragedy struck from a life lived playing too long and too hard. She lived life full throttle, even to the end and left this world doing what she loved. A memorial service was held this morning and her remains scattered over her favorite place to be. Rest in Peace, you will be missed. In lieu of flowers, condolences can be sent to flyrcjoe.

Me and Joe (flyrcjoe) were hucking in the wind this morning, and I mean WIND, 20-30mph type wind!!!. Joe loved this edge and has just been killing it with his flying lately. We went up for a flight together and 3 or 4 minutes in his transmitter starts beeping. All I heard after that was "there it goes" and caught it out if the corner of my eye going straight in full power. Batteries ran out of electrons and that was that. Right now he is just deciding which version of the edge to replace it with. He knows how well that one flew, but has heard the new T version is supposed to fly better. It might come down to which one is in stock. Definitely one of the worst crashes I have seen in a while. Haven't talked to him yet to see how little actually survived.

Agony, agony, agony! Tragic!

But... it's all part of it. :)

Yeah, two kind of planes, those that have crashed, and those that haven't crashed yet.

Just finished charging one battery took 2960 mA the other one took 3020 mA they're only 3000 mA batteries. The motor looks salvageable, needs a new cylinder on one side and a new front hub but the crank is straight. 6 of the 13 servos are completely shot. Headers and canisters are completely destroyed. The landing gear did survive. I normally have a routine of only flying the airplane three flights and then charging, was having such a good time that I just forgot. But it is part of the hobby. Definitely learned a lesson. I don't know what I'm going to replace the plane with I've been looking at a bunch of options.

13 servos? Was this a 150cc?

It is part of the hobby. And, now you get to shop for a new plane! :)

Well since the landing gear survived, get a bottle of glue and let's start the rebuild!
